Coronavirus (COVID-19) The Thorny Crown Controversies; Palm Sunday Special

The nobel Coronavirus Disease (2019-nCoV, COVID-19) has like a thorny crown spiked the whole world with lots of controversies amidst the pains it inflicts.

Some say it’s a biological weapon manufactured by China to cut down population, supporting their arguments with excerpts from Dean Koontz book “The Eyes of Darkness” which made reference to a Virus called Wuhan-400 which coincides with the place where the Coronavirus first broke out.  I know China is the world’s economic/manufacturing hub, but what I don’t understand is why anyone would decide to play God over a population they didn’t create. I mean humans are not some sort of robots.

Some say it’s a sign of end-time. They referenced some prophesies and predictions made over the years by psychic doomsayers. The Blind Mystic; Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova is said to have given an oral prophesy back in 1996 about the Corona virus. Similarly, Sylvia Browne prophesied in his book "End of Days” that "In around 2020, a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments.

Nostradamus in his book Les Prophecies states that “a 'Great Plague' was coming to inflict suffering on the world, and will not cease until there be avenged the death of the just blood, condemned for a price without crime”.

I personally disagree with these prophesies especially Nostradamus’ claim of an avengement of the just blood. The only just blood I know of is the blood of the blameless Lamb of God; Jesus who was “given” and not taken by force. God gave his only begotten son to reconcile the whole world (all of mankind) to himself. The sacrifice which eluded the acknowledgement of many of its beneficiaries was offered willing and completely without any expectations but the redemption of the world. Crucified by the same people for whom he’s sacrificed. The devil never came up from hell to crucify Christ, man has been his very best weapon. He set man against his God, got man to make him (Christ) a crown of thorns to mock his kingship and a wooden cross. The cross they at least showed some concern over its weight and had Simon of Cyrene help him bear it a couple of steps, but the crown of thorns which spiked his head he held high hopefully bleeding for the sins of his persecutors, yet the pangs of pain was disregarded except for Veronica who wiped his bloody face. Now the brittle crown of thorn has budged its prickle to the world and no one’s ready to be king anymore. Christ held none of these against the world for whom he died. Rather, he prayed for our forgiveness.     

  As a matter of fact, all these purported prophesies are doing more harm than good to people’s psychological health. The fact is people tend to associate every unfortunate event in the world with end-time. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires and several others have been tagged signs of end-time and each time they happen, people seeking cheap popularity begin to scare others rather than console them. In my opinion, whether the world ended in 2012 and we are all ‘living dead’ or it will end in 2022; as purported by a new recording that is been circulated online by someone who claims the Coronavirus is a cover for the real biological weapon (the 5G technology implementation), no one should gamble with their soul waiting for end-time to begin to live righteously. End-time will come as a thief in the night; everyone’s end-time is the very second they transit from physical life to eternal life. So it pays to prepare for that unknown moment instead of counting the signs.  

The 2019 nobel Coronavirus pandemic has steered up profuse political propaganda, global socio-economic disorder including the postponement and or cancellation of ceremonial events and daily activities such sports, weddings, congregational worship, physical classroom education, in-office work, recreational outings, and now a total lockdown of movement to curtail its spread. There have also been prevalent fears of supply shortages especially of food and medical requirements which have induced panic purchasing by those who can afford to buy. Some other people fear that more people may die from hunger and starvation than from the virus especially in Africa since most people in the region are daily income earners that live from hand to mouth. Misinformation, myths and conspiracy theories about the virus and people of interest are deliberately taking advantage of the situation to exploit others have spread online like wildfire.

Of course, there’s never smoke without fire and owing to the fact that man is capable of any magnitude of evil upon a (Trigger) T-virus, who knows if truly the controversies surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic has indeed been masterminded by some individuals or organizations for their own gains? Only God does. We can only pray and hope that all these controversial propositions are not a charade to distraction us and cover up something worse. I mean, the essence of technology is to make life better and not destroy it. So if there is an innovation that proves harmful to the human life, it should be squashed at once.

Regardless of what the actual truth may be there’s a dire need for us to stay guarded and guided. We're in this together all of us; rich or poor, black or white, there's no exception. Let's keep doing the needful and be the Veronicas of our time by consoling those who are adversely affected. Every contribution you make; financial, medical, intellectual, conscious effort, all counts.

We need to keep our guards up and sort whatever information we get with our common sense and the spirit of discernment. You certainly don’t need a prophet to tell you ‘beware!’ when someone tells you that water is injurious to your wellbeing. Do you?

Washing of hands is highly important as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). It doesn’t only help us cut down the risk of contacting the Coronavirus Disease but it is a good and healthy practice to stay protected from all kinds of germs and harmful stuff we may unconsciously acquire from surfaces we touch.

Social distancing is very imperative in the fight against Coronavirus. Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance away from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

It is very vital to boost the immune system against diseases. Since viruses are microorganisms that we cannot attack and arrest with muscular strength, our antibodies need to stay strengthened at all times to defend our body from harmful and toxic stuff.

Boost your spiritual and psychological balance. Refrain from unnecessary fear, always deliberately take charge of situations and chose the information you use. Above all, never forget to pray. Pray without ceasing and hold on tightly to God. He is the surest source of solace.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth because your hands touch many surfaces and can pick up germs, bacteria and viruses. If your hands get contaminated, they invariably transfer these microorganisms to your body systems through your eyes, nose or mouth.

Practice respiratory hygiene. Ensure to maintain a safe distance of at least one (1) meters from people around you, and always cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a disposable tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately in a closed trash can. It keeps you and the society safe.

Be aware of your body as well as environment and stay informed. Pay attention to the signs and symptoms of the 2019 SARS nobel Coronavirus Disease but do not panic unnecessarily if you notice some of them after all, there’s always been flu, fever, body aches and other associated signs before the advent of the Coronavirus. Do well to get tested if need be and don’t because of false information neglect a helpful one. Just make sure you filter the information you receive before applying it.
